The most exciting motorsport in the world. That is the WRC, taking place in some of the most beautiful, diverse and challenging environments on the planet. Stages on snow and ice, rock strewn gravel and tarmac, stages run in numbing cold and scorching heat, stages shrouded in fog or dust, run by day or at night.
My passion for photography was first kindled in the mid 1970s when my father presented me with a shiny Pentax direct from a business trip to Japan, this in the days when such items were available there months earlier and for a fraction of the price than in the UK.
From an early age I had always loved colour and beautiful light though perhaps not appreciating the artistic applications at the time. Soon my new toy was taking more and more of my time and accompanying me on trips to Brands Hatch to creep under the fence at the end of practice and visit the wonders of the pits.
Gradually rallying became my primary motorsport interest, its friendliness, accessibility and wildly varying landscapes being an intoxicating mix for me. As my photography developed I came to realise that rallying provided the ultimate outlet for a photographers skills, incorporating the differing challenges of landscapes, portraits, spectacular action and the emotions they all evoke. There is so much scope, so much to challenge, so many opportunities to innovate. What could be better?
I hope I have conveyed my passion on these pages. If you like what you see please get intouch.
